Factor’s Community Care Initiative

Last month, we talked about how we're Converting Factor's Diversity Commitment to Action. Today, we wanted to provide an update on one of our early actions: Factor's Community Care Initiative. In each Factor location, brilliant organizations work to cultivate opportunities and provide support where communities are often underfunded or under-supported. Our Community Care Initiative represents a series of local fundraising efforts across six cities globally, to support the vital work of these organizations.

Since kicking this off, our team members have made us proud with the effort they have put into a variety of fundraising activities. We've seen running, cycling, hiking, and most importantly, thousands of dollars of donations. We're incredibly proud to note that Factor and our CEO will both match the total donations raised for each organization.

We're honored to be supporting the vital work of these organizations through this initiative and, over the coming weeks, we want to highlight what they do in our local communities for underrepresented groups, from support and advocacy to entrepreneurship and youth mentorship:

Chicago:

Just the Beginning - For many students, particularly students of color and those from low-income backgrounds, the path to law school or a successful legal career is not always clear. JTB works to illuminate that path by lighting the spark of recognition that it is possible to become a lawyer and a leader. Donate

New York:

New York Urban League - From landing living wage jobs with good benefits to putting our youth on the path to a fruitful educational career, it's the New York Urban League's role to strengthen underserved communities, ensuring everybody has a seat at the table. Donate

Raleigh:

The Helius Foundation - We see an America where everyone has the capability to support themselves with dignity, in the face of racial, educational and financial inequity. The Helius Foundation has a multi-layer approach to support minority-owned small businesses through mentorship, coaching, and strategic guidance. Donate

London:

Black Thrive - Black Thrive is a partnership between communities, statutory organizations, voluntary and private sector. We work together to reduce the inequality and injustices experienced by Black people in mental health services. We address the barriers which lead to poorer outcomes across a range of social factors, such as education, employment, housing, and so on, all of which may negatively impact one's health and wellbeing. Donate

Belfast:

Beyond Skin - Through a diverse team of Artists and Peace Soldiers we design and facilitate innovative creative projects & solutions that strengthen community relations, nurture peace processes, heal trauma and promote interaction between different cultures through diversity and global education. Donate

Wroclaw:

Nomada - The Nomada Association is a Wrocław-based non-governmental organization working for human rights, their popularization and defense, especially among historically excluded groups, with projects helping to create relationships based on mutual understanding and good communication. Donate

We know that progress is not achieved overnight—it's a journey built on actions, both big and small, that collectively move the needle over time. Our hope is that these small steps taken by Factor set an example and encourage others to take action for the communities we call home and beyond.
